A special and long interview, of about 10000 words, to celebrate the release of “Sang Live at Zepp Diver City Tokyo” on DVD and Blue Ray
–The 15th of July at the Zepp Diver City Tokyo took place the “KAMIJO Japan Tour Sang -Final” and this time you will release it on DVD, but now going back to it, what kind of live do you think it was?
KAMIJO: Since I created “Sang” basically for the live with the fans, the dubbers and Htsune Miku-chan, I think I put it all together as “Sang” live
–Did it satisfy you?
KAMIJO: Obviously I feel a sensation of satisfaction and pride. At the same time there was something more: right in the moment I announced the release of “Sang” the first time, I could imagine it clearly. Now if I think back to it, also that moment of pride and satisfaction makes me happy.
— So, from now on, you will go back to the live for the setlist
KAMIJO: First of all, at the beginning, I thought to the theme more than to Marie Antoinette. I gave to Marie Antoinette the role of narrator in third person, then I developed the story of Louis XVII. Marie Antoinette appears in the background, in the frame, but not in the video, I used a portrait. It fits perfectly with the opera.
— It starts with the “Theme of Sang”, then “Nosferatu” and then it goes on following the same order of the album. The higher note of “Nosferatu”, when you sing with the fans is a wonderful image
KAMIJO: That is the moment when Louis XVII and Count Saint Germain become “plurals”. Also the group of Be Choir participated in it. This song needed the choir. “The songs with the ensemble of people” I think it’s amazing. I want to hear more the voice of fans and I want to I invest more on the choir.
— At the beginning of “Emigré” there is a narration, what does.it mean?
KAMIJO: It introduces the story, but the melody you can hear actually belongs to the theme of “Simphony of the Vampire”. I would be glad if fans could notice it.
–Suddenly images flow like a TG, I was surprised to see Dave Spector
KAMIJO: Dave-san appears as a commentator, it’s the result of the reality we were looking for, right? I thought about creating a feeling in which we can’t understand what the world we are living in is.
–So you asked Dave Spector to participate as a commentator
KAMIJO: When I proposed the idea, I explained everything about Emigré, he commented it was interesting. So he agreed and I’m grateful to him for this.
— What was the purpose to insert a TG-like image in your live shows?
KAMIJO: When I think about the reason I added these “means” in live shows, it’s because I thought about how to communicate my work without any explanation. So I thought everyone would understand the content of the work in the form of news. I have done it in this way.
–It is not just a point of view, the narration it’s made from every angle, so it is reality
KAMIJO: If I did not treat it from all angles, there would be no consistency. If it were only one’s point of view, the search for reality would have turned out to be a lie. There is no need to lie, while I let everyone’s imagination run, I hope to include everything in the form of reality in history.
–Even Dave’s speech “if the vampires really existed … but …” [It seems he really says it] (laughs). Then after you intensly ask “do vampires exist?” Vampire Rock Star begins. At that moment Dave gets up
KAMIJO: I always do Vampire Rock Star in the second half of the show, but this time I thought “Can I do it first?”. Dave-san oddly did a great job. Even afterwards with Bastille, there was a good scene. It’s also visible in the video, Meku-kun singing amazingly. At the end on the stage you can see the members’ different and revolutionary sides, I think they are beautiful images.
